Recruiting Policy
Campbell, Philippart, Laigo & Associés has been a full service law firm, providing legal advice to French and international clients, for more than 30 years.
We have intentionally remained a small firm but have an on-going requirement to recruit associates and short term interns. One of our selling points is that our clients know that they will be dealing with the lawyer(s) directly handling their matters and not a Mexican army. We are looking for team players, lawyers with people skills who will rapidly be in direct contact with our clients.
We expect associates to be qualified members of a French or foreign bar. In the latter case, some qualification in French law will also be required. As much of our work is transactional, a business school qualification will give an additional competitive edge.
Foreign companies make up an important part of our client base and given our position as the French member of TELFA, a European association of lawyers, fluency in English is not an option but a necessity (and competence in other languages will be an advantage).
We work hard but we encourage our lawyers to have a life outside the office.
Associates are under the direct supervision and guidance of a partner but are expected to work for any member of the firm as the need arises. We regularly send associates to meetings of TELFA colleagues throughout Europe to develop contacts with their opposite numbers in correspondent firms.
If you feel that your qualifications and personal ambitions would integrate into a team of our size and background you should send your CV to the attention of Hervé Laigo, h.laigo@parislaw.tm.fr the partner responsible for recruitment.
If we have an opening there will be a round of interviews. Typically the first will be with the partner in charge of the particular field of law involved. If mutually satisfactory, this will be followed by one or more further interviews with other partners. We try to ensure that a decision is taken within a maximum of five weeks from the initial personal contact.
Applications for internships (we normally have two or three interns, for periods of between three and nine months, on a permanent basis) should also be sent to Hervé Laigo, h.laigo@parislaw.tm.fr. Theses are often students required to gain some in-the-field experience for their professional qualifications. We welcome interns from other countries provided that they have reasonable French linguistic skills.
